Celebrate UN World Food Day and the rich bounty of the Comox Valley with a delectable Stone Soup Hyper-Local Harvest Dinner at the Komoks Band Hall.

This community feast is part of World Food Week Comox Valley, a project of the Comox Valley Food Round Table, LUSH Valley and their community partners. What is Food Security?

Food security is all about the availability of safe, healthy food for everyone. This means globally, nationally, in our communities, in our homes and during emergencies. Food security is also about facing the threat of climate change and working for the development of sustainable methods to meet local and global food demands in the future. Food security is also about poverty. Many families and individuals in our own communities, including many seniors and children, lack the resources to access safe, nutritious and culturally appropriate food.

What is the Goal of World Food Week Comox Valley?

The goal of this event is to increase local knowledge and inspire coordinated efforts to address local food security issues. The Comox Valley has such a strong 'foodie' culture - from farm to table. This event will raise the general understanding of food security issues and show people ways to support local growers and initiatives that will help address gaps in the local food system.

Sponsors and supporters of World Food Week Comox Valley include the City of Courtenay, LUSH Valley Food Action Society, World Community, Mid Islanders for Justice and Peace in the Middle East, BC Healthy Communities, Comox Valley Record, Comox Valley Farmers Market, Lake Trail Neighbourhood Connections, North Island College Faculty Association, Sunshine Organics, Sun Coast Grown, North Vancouver Island Chefs Association, EatDrinkMedia.Ca and Comox Valley Growers and Seed Savers.
