Many of us are self-critical and have an inernal dialogue that is forever measuring ourselves against some idealized way we think we should be and feel.  We use self-criticism to motivate ourselves and worry that if we were kind to ourselves, we might just wallow in self-pity and never get anything done.


Well the research shows that is not true.  In fact, learning to treat ourselves with kindness when we are suffering - offering ourselves compassion - has been proven by over 400 studies to improve health and wellbeing and is actually a much more motivator that self-critciism.


Mindful Self-Compassion Training
is a 9 session course that will give you the skills and practices to quit being so hard on yourself, to motivate yourself with kindness, and to develop a better relationship with yourself and others.


New research in the areas of neurobiology, compassion and mindfulness show that there are practices that can boost our immune system, promote resiliency, and offer protection against compassion fatigue —including burnout and secondary traumatization.


Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC)
is a research based program developed at University of California San Diego.
You will learn over 25 simple, sustainable ways to call on your own inner resources to soothe yourself in times of stress or pain.


INCREASE resiliency and ability to bounce back from stress and trauma
DECREASE anxiety and depression
INCREASE emotional wellbeing and happiness
INCREASE commitment to healthy habits like diet and exercise
INCREASE immunity and relationship satisfaction


The 9 session skill building program includes a half day meditation retreat.  Program starts Monday February 1st, 2016 and runs for 8 consecutive Monday evenings.  On Sunday March 6th, 2016 there will also be a 1/2 day silent retreat at Bethlehem Retreat Centre.
