Learn to grow mushrooms at home, without any fancy or expensive equipment.  Build your own oyster mushroom grow kit and shiitake log to take home in this hands-on workshop with biologist Jessica Wolf.   

Workshops topics include:

*Easy techniques for propagating mushrooms that you find in the wild, on the grocery store shelf, or from kits you purchase “ready to go” from suppliers

*An overview of a mushroom life cycle, habitat and ecology and how this applies to cultivating them.

*The importance of correct mushroom identification so you don’t make poisonous mistakes

*Types of edible and medicinal mushrooms and what to grow them on; trees species, wood chips, garden beds, straw etc.

Cost:  $75 per person, which includes a shiitake and oyster mushroom log to take home (valued at $20 each).  

This half day workshop is offered on two dates; Sat Apr 28 or Sun Apr 29 in Errington, (15 minutes from Parksville) on Vancouver Island.  Advanced registration is required and limited to 16.  **April dates are almost full.  A tentative date of Sat May 5th has been added pending interest.
