Introduction to Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy (Teacher Training)

Over the course of the weekend you will have the opportunity to experience the process of Yoga Therapy while learning relevant and useful skills from yoga and ayurveda. Through personal experience of the benefits of these practices you will come to understand their value and learn how to share them with others. The process is fun and the environment at the Centre nurturing and relaxing. The food is excellent and the staff friendly.
This weekend is also offered as the first module of an Ayurvedic Yoga Therapist Training which will start in September 2013. Come join us and find out if this is the next step in your livelihood!
For yoga teachers registered with Yoga Alliance, this retreat will count towards continuing education credits.
Instructor:: Sandra Sagarmurti Shotton
Sandra graduated from Integrative Yoga Therapy in 1997 and has been practicing Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy for 16 years now. She furthered her studies through the Ayurvedic Institute in 2007 and at Chakrapani Ayurveda in Jaipur, India in 2008. This valuable time spent in India both with her guru Swami Niranjan of the Bihar School of Yoga and her Ayurvedic mentor Dr. Kotecha added much depth to her knowledge and awareness.
Since her founding of Island Yoga Vista in Nanaimo in 1997, Sandra has been working full time bringing the therapeutic benefits of yoga and ayurveda to countless individuals and groups in diverse situations including mental health and addictions, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, pregnancy and post partum, arthritis, diabetes, swim teams and much more.
In her work with individuals as well as in group therapy classes the focus is on individual health challenges, food choices and lifestyle changes supported through the timeless tools of yoga and the ancient holistic system of ayurveda. People gain hope and optimism through being empowered to make adjustments in their lives that allow their natural state of health to shine through.
Sandra is a certified yoga Instructor recognized at the experienced advanced level with Yoga Alliance. She is also a Member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists.
