In recognition of Prevention of Violence Against Women Week April 17th – 23rd Warmland Women’s Support Services Society proudly supports Social Justice Duncan United Church for the film screening of “Honor Diaries – Culture is No Excuse for Abuse”, an award winning documentary in which 9 Muslim women’s rights advocates discuss gender-based inequality and violence in the Muslim-majority societies of which they are part.
Acknowledging honour violence as “systematic, institutionalized misogyny”, Honor Diaries is the first film to break the silence on honour violence against women and girls. Honor Diaries is more than a movie, it is a movement to save women and girls from human rights abuses around the world.
Join us for a post-screening dialogue about the issues of gender-based violence co-facilitated by Kendra Thomas of Warmland Women’s Support Services. April 14th 7:00 p.m. Duncan United Church.
Admission is free or by donation.
