The 2010 Upper Island Musical Festival is set to fill the air with the sounds of music and dance. And competing amateur performing artists want you to come on down to cheer them on whether it’s just for an hour, one event or the whole day.

Events include Piano, Voice, Dance, Speech & Dramatic Arts, Strings, and Brass & Woodwind and run throughout morning, afternoon and evenings throughout 26 days of festival.

This year’s festival boasts over 1,500 competitors and are staged at various venues around town.

The Upper Island Musical Festival culminates with a showcase of the best from the festival, the Dance Gala on April 10th and the Honours Performance on April 17th.

The Upper Island Musical Festival Association is an non-profit society encouraging the study and practice of the performing arts through competition. All members are volunteers. Most music and speech arts participants come from Bowser through to Ladysmith, with many dancers coming from dance schools throughout Vancouver Island.

All proceeds go directly into supporting the development of Vancouver Island's amateur performing artists.
