A Clarinet, some Heartstrings, and the Big Bad Brass!
Guest Artist: Susanne Bullock, Clarinet
Susanne Bullock, VIS Principal Clarinettist, begins this brilliant concert with the expansive Clarinet Concerto by Aaron Copland and Prairie Dawn by Canadian composer Stephen Chatman. Serenade for Strings, Op. 22 by Antonin Dvorak is an absolute masterwork, infused with classy romanticism, the embodiment of romance and very familiar. The VI Symphony Brass section is featured performing Ceremonial Fanfare by Aaron Copland, Fanfare for the Common Cold by Peter Schickele, Fanfare “La Péri” by Paul Dukas, Signals from Heaven II (Night Signal) by Toru Takemitsu and Concert Music for Strings and Brass by Paul Hindemith.
