Spring into Community Celebration

Local artists, musicians and author Julie Salisbury have joined together to celebrate the first day of Spring Saturday March 20th at the Quw’utsun Conference centre. This Cultural community event is open to all, and is kicked off at 2.30pm with Author Salisbury inspiring community members to share their stories by writing and publishing it in a book. “If you ever wondered what was involved in writing and publishing your story” states Salisbury, “You’ll be pleasantly surprised that new technology means anyone can be a first time author” Mark Lakeman of City Repair will be the next speaker at 5.00 pm and he’ll be inspiring community members to turn urban spaces into community places to meet and celebrate. The evening celebrations launch at 8.00 pm with a drum circle, followed by local band the Paradigm Shifters providing music to dance and celebrate. Everyone is welcome. Licadho Canada human rights non-profit will be raising money for victims of land-grabbing in Cambodia through the sale of one of a kind unique Art fabric clothing items.
2.30pm- 4.30pm Julie Salisbury of InspireABook - Did you ever wonder what is involved in writing and publishing your own book? Julie inspires Us to tell our stories and publish them. New technology has opened up the possibility for the ordinary man on the street to now publish their own story.
5.00pm-7.45pm Mark Lakeman of City Repair - How we can reclaim our urban spaces to create community places. Mark inspires us to turn ordinary neighbourhood areas into meeting spaces for community.
8.00pm - 8.45pm Karin Lewis hosts a Drum Circle - please bring a drum or call to reserve one at 748-6750.
9.00pm to Midnight - The Paradigm Shifters creates an interactive night of music, magic and dancing!
The Comeakin Kitchen will be serving yummy food and there will be alcohol and non alcoholic drinks.
