Cowichan Lake Sports Arena, 311 South Shore Rd. Lake Cowichan,BC.Celebrate the 2010 Olympic Opening Ceremonies with a Family Skate. Meet one of our local Olympians. Dr. Tanya Clarke-Young competed in freestyle skiing for 11 years was a member of the Canadian National Freestyle Ski Team for 8 years, was a member of the Canadian Olympic Team in 1992 (Albertville Olympics) placed 12th. Her best results are 4th in the World Cup at Lake Placid New York 1991 (acro event)& /1 st in Canada, 1992 (acro event). After retiring from sport she studied for 7 years in Toronto to become a Doctor of Chiropractic. She is a local, she grew up in the Cowichan Valley, (Youbou, then Duncan) and now lives and works in Duncan. Brian Lundberg, another one of our illustrious local professional athletes, who played for the NHL will be out on the ice to meet & greet all skaters. Defenceman Brian Lundberg played with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1982-83. This event is free and there will be lots of fabulous prizes along with autographs & photo-opportunities.Tons of fun!
