2:00 PM to 4:00 PM

Here in Victoria good planning makes it possible to harvest produce from our gardens during every month of the year. Knowing when to sow seeds is important. But it’s just as crucial to know when and how to transition one crop to another. This presentation will show you how to make your garden more intensive by planning crop rotations.

Hannah has been “learning and doing” on small-scale organic farms and permaculture sites in Nicaragua, Washington State and BC for many years. She is grateful to have so many wonderful teachers along the way as she explores her passions for plants, food systems, herbal medicines, agroecosystem management and food sovereignty issues, both globally and locally. She received her Permaculture Design Certificate in 2005, her Chartered Herbalist designation in 2008, and her Organic Master Gardener Certificate in 2009. She volunteers as a mentor for new farmers in the SOIL program, and is on the planning committee for VicWest Urban Farmers. She has led and assisted in teaching various farming/gardening/permaculture/food-related courses and workshops. She recently received her M.A in Environmental Studies at the University of Victoria, where her research focused on the adaptive capacity of small-scale farmers in the face of a changing climate.
