Cowichan Green Community (CGC) is proud to present a Fruit Tree Management & Pruning Workshop. Join Todd Gesshe (a certified arborist) and CGC staff to learn all about fruit tree pruning, tree biology, planting, mulching and more.
This five hour intensive workshop aims to provide Cowichan Valley residents an affordable opportunity to learn how to prune their mature fruit trees. The workshop consists of two parts: an indoor learning component which will be held at Marigold Nurseries and an outdoor demonstration, held at a residential site (to be announced upon registration). The cost for this workshop is $25 for CGC-members, and $30 for non-members.
“Our hope is to educate participants and to leave them feeling more confident and inspired in caring for their fruit trees - whether it is in their backyard or orchard. Everyone wants their fruit trees to thrive, and we can help you learn proper pruning techniques to increase fruit tree yields for next season,” explains CGC’s on-site horticulturist Kristi Tomlin.
This pruning workshop is a unique opportunity to learn from a skilled arborist. The workshop will cover a wide range of information, and is a great opportunity for homeowners from various skill levels to learn more about how to maintain their fruit trees. Participants are asked to bring a bagged lunch and warm clothing. The day will include a tea in the late afternoon.
