The need to create. Why do artists do it?

Presented in conjunction with the Coast Art Trust exhibit, Cross Connections.

Join Gregg Simpson and Pnina Granirer, two of the artists featured in Cross Connections, and Martin Segger, Director of UVic's Maltwood Art Museum and Gallery, to discuss the urge to create. Is it imprinted in our genes? Why would artists stubbornly continue to make art while facing a life of probable poverty and few rewards? The desire to create is a universal, compelling drive that became evident from the dawn of civilization, its genesis and meaning still debated by philosophers. We can't promise answers, but we can offer a lively discussion in the presence of some inspiring art.

Admission is free but please reserve your place at 250-721-8480.
