By meeting and interacting with a variety of local experts and touring related educational facilities and job sites, youth will gain a general introduction to the environmental industry and discover benefits and training opportunities in the field. The workshops will present both entry-level and defined career options.

In recent years, increased environmental awareness has led to concerns regarding climate change, air and water pollution, soil contamination, and gas prices. Recycling is an increasingly common practice and door-to-door collection of compostable materials is expected to begin on a large scale by the fall. Nanaimo’s popular farmer’s markets reflect the demand for locally grown food. These points considered, growth and vitality clearly characterize the environmental sector resulting in an increase in the overall work force and diversity of environmental occupations and work places.

Whether exploring your first career path, looking for a change or aiming to become involved within the environmental field, NYSA’s free three day workshop will benefit participants.
