Workshop Focuses on Tourism, Retail and
Hospitality Careers
Unemployed youth invited to take part in the workshop
Nanaimo Youth Services Association’s Youth Employment Centre is facilitating a workshop on Tourism, Retail and Hospitality careers, January 19th, 20th and 21st 2010.
This exciting workshop series is open to all between the ages of 15-30 who are unemployed and not a full time student.
Tourism has been a steady sector of British Columbia’s economy and Nanaimo is a good example of this. With the 2010 Olympics just around the corner, British Columbia is becoming a showcased destination, providing an exciting time for travel and tourism opportunities. As tourism increases in Nanaimo the hospitality and retail fields are growing to meet the expected demand for services.
Whether you are trying to select a career path, looking for a career change, or wanting to get involved in tourism, retail or hospitality, these three days will be of great interest.
Participants will get a variety of information, including a general introduction to the industry. Participants will meet and interact with a variety of local experts in retail, tourism and hospitality and find out about the benefits of working in those industries, learn about training opportunities and more. They will also have a free lunch and all transportation to the tours is provided.
If you are looking for an opportunity to network with those already established in this industry and learn more about the field, don’t hesitate to call the Youth Employment Centre at 754-8101 to find out more, or visit them at 290 Bastion Street.
