BRASS & WOODWIND SECTION. The 2010 Upper Island Musical Festival is set to fill the air with the sounds of Contemporary, Romantic, Baroque, and Classical composers. And our central island's competing amateur musicians want you to come on down to cheer them on whether it’s just for an hour or the whole day.

The day is divided into Brass solos and ensemble competition during the morning session with the Woodwind musicians (clarinet, saxophone, flute, recorder) competing in the afternoon. .

Adjudicating the Brass & Woodwind competition this year is Dave Proznick (Clinician, Master Teacher, Musician). Recognized internationally for his ability to produce quality musical groups, Dave Proznick is the recipient of the "Keith Mann Award", the first inductee into the Envision Jazz Festival's "Hall of Fame". He is now retired from teaching in the public schools and is a consultant for the Summer Jazz Camps held at the Comox Youth Music Centre and the Kwantlen Summer Jazz programs.
