Part showman and part professor, Mike Nicholson will lead the “Presenter’s Table”.
For those who don’t appreciate a wee dram, there will be plenty of options including a Virgin Bar hosted by the Grand to ensure designated drivers can enjoy the festivity as well.
Sumptuous food is a big part of the evening with Grand Hotel Chef Ian Ver Teer preparing fine tapas dishes featuring fresh, local ingredients. Sippers will enjoy a range of delicacies from Island seafood and shellfish harvesters to local charcuterie and exotic cheese. Live entertainment by Dave Hart Music and MC Bill Robinson rounds out the evening.
According to The Grand Hotel's Director of Operations, Susie Sirri, “This event is another example of how we are standing out in the eyes of whisky aficionados." The Wee Tipple partnership comes on the heels of The Grand Hotel opening Nanaimo's first Whisky Bar offering more than 60 labels. The Grand Hotel's commitment to 'whisky culture' was noted as a major attraction for Wee Tipple organizers.
“Wee Tipple is evolving and we’re pleased to make this important connection with a property that offers such an excellent setting” according to Crimson Coast Dance Society’s Holly Bright. “Board members can focus even more on the silent auction and fundraising fun for the evening.”
Options for a ‘safe ride home’ will be available, and the Grand Hotel is offering a Wee Tipple rate for guests who wish to just ‘take the elevator home’. Free parking is available at the hotel until Saturday at 1 pm. Local taxi companies have been alerted to this event and the need for cars nearby at closing time. You will be asked to sign a liability waiver indicating you understand that you will be consuming alcohol and will make arrangements for transportation other than driving. Nanaimo's Get-A-Gogo driving service will be there to support the event and sign up sheets for a safe ride home will be provided. Get-A-Gogo has limited resources so it is first come, first served. You may wish to prearrange your own form of transportation after the event.
Tickets for the evening are $55 in advance only at the Grand Hotel front desk 250-758-3000 or from Crimson Coast at 250-716-3230 or http://www.crimsoncoastdance.org/
