The Community Arts Council of the Saanich Peninsula (CACSP) will be hosting an exhibition and sale of First Nations and Métis Art at the Arts Centre in Tulista Park, Sidney on the edge of the Salish Sea.
This is the second year that the CACSP has sponsored local lower island artists and artisans with First Nations heritage. The participants at this year’s exhibition include a wide variety First Nations backgrounds and experience from Salish to Cree, and Chicasaw to Inuit. Salish artists Charles Elliot, Chris Paul, and James Jimmy are well known and established Peninsula artists. Others, less well known, will be introducing local work. Some examples of the great variety of artists living in the Victoria area include; a Mohawk contemporary spoken word artist, Janet Rogers with books of poetry, and CD’s of her work. Romy Prichard, a Métis artist using fibre and painting that reflects her experiences. As well, there will be traditionally crafted work, featuring both emerging and established artists. We hope that you will come and visit, feast your eyes and your soul on the work presented at this years show
