CALLING ALL ARTISTS and ARTS ORGANIZATIONS
It’s time once again to celebrate the arts community in Nanaimo by inviting all artisans and arts organizations to take part in ArtsFair 2007.
Brought to you by Theatre BC and Crimson Coast Dance Society, Arts Fair 2007 is scheduled for Saturday, August 11, 2007 and will be open to the public from 12:00 noon until 9:00 pm. As a participant, you will be expected to be on-site from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm.
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:
We are excited to announce that this year’s event will be located at Maffeo Sutton Park during the 7th Annual Symphony in the Harbour sponsored by Vancouver Island Symphony Orchestra.Imagine strutting your stuff and setting up your wares for a captive audience of over 7,000 arts supporters? That’s how many audience members attended last year’s event and that’s what we’re inviting you to participate in this year at ArtsFair 2007, Nanaimo and area’s Arts & Cultural Exhibition.
ArtsFair 2007 is intended to serve as a platform for improving communication amongst artists and arts groups and a means to increase public awareness of all arts activities. This will, in turn, assist the participants to improve their financial stability. The event will feature opportunities for exhibitors to market themselves to a broad audience with an interest in what the arts has to offer. This is our second annual event which promotes marketing and audience development, and ‘cross-pollinating’ patron interest throughout the diverse arts community in the Nanaimo area.
This trade-show format allows exhibitors to market the growing arts and cultural industry to the public. Under one umbrella, attendees will have the opportunity to see the wide range of cultural products and activities that Nanaimo has to offer. Covering all arts disciplines, ArtsFair 2007 is sure to appeal to a broad audience spanning all ages. The primary goal of this event is to stimulate interest and awareness of the arts community in our area, thereby increasing the audience and customer base for participating organizations and artists.
ArtsFair 2007 will provide outdoor spaces for arts organizations and independent artisans and commercial businesses to host their own displays featuring promotional materials, artwork, products and wares. There will not be access to electricity. We suggest that you provide your own display table; perhaps a patio table with an umbrella would lend itself to a casual atmosphere. You may even want to bring chairs to allow your patrons to sit and chat with you, the artist. Skirted tables can be reserved for a flat fee of $45.00. It has been suggested that you might also want to bring a rubber or grass mat to stand on, as this will alleviate a great deal of stress on your legs that can be experienced by standing for long periods.
We ask that you donate a product or service that would entice the public to buy a ticket for a raffle, the proceeds of which will go towards costs incurred by ArtsFair. All donations will be collected and presented as one raffle prize. This is a terrific marketing opportunity for you to include your business card or brochure with your donation.
Registration will be done on a first-come, first-served basis and we encourage you to register right away, as we expect a considerable increase in participants this year. This year’s registration fee has been significantly reduced to only $40.00 (plus G.S.T.).
To reserve a space for your organization, company, or as an individual artist to participate in this unique and fun event, contact Theatre BC at 714-0203.
Deadline for application is Friday, July 20th.
Best Wishes,
Robb Mowbray
Executive Director
