This event is designed to raise funds and awareness of ovarian cancer, Canadas most fatal gynecological cancer. This year in Canada, 2,500 women will be diagnosed and 1,750 will die from the disease.
Registration for the event can be done online, or at the event site at 9am. The walk begins at 10am, and the route distance is 5km. This is a mini-walk location, organized by a group of wonderful people in Nanaimo, and is dedicated to the loving memory of Leah Wickland.
Remember that KNOWLEDGE CAN FIGHT THIS DISEASE.
Currently only 30% of women survive five years after being diagnosed. However if the disease was detected and treated in early stages, the survival rate can be as high as 90%. By educating women of the signs and symptoms of the disease, we can increase the survival rate and help conquer the odds.
The Walk is also being held at the following locations in British Columbia: Comox Valley, Kelowna/Westbank, Penticton, Prince George, Saturna Island, Surrey, Vancouver, Vernon, Victoria
