The Haven Society provided services to women and children who have experienced violence. Haven programs provide everything from shelter, emotioal support, counselling, advocacy court accompaniment, and most importantly a safe place to begin healing from abuse.
From the Children
�Can you show me a world as you can imagine you would like it to be?� the counsellor said to the young girl. The child proceeded to build her world in the sand tray. The house had a family in one room, a swimming pool close by, a forest across the street and a parking lot out front. The counsellor realized that the girl was building a representation of the Transition House the child was now staying in. �Is this a safe place for you?� the counsellor inquired. �Yes.� said the child �There is no fighting... no one yells... and no one hits anyone here.�
