"Honouring Resistance ~ Transformation Through Movement" is a series of body-centered trauma recovery and violence prevention programs for all self-identified women who have experienced oppression, sexism, misogyny, harassment, sexual objectification, abuse and/or violence.
Wenlido W.E.S.T. (Women Educating in Self-Defense Training) is a Vancouver-based non-profit organization teaching self-defense to women and their children since 1976. Skilled instructors approach the training through an informed feminist lens. This weekend course includes discussion on how women resist abuse and violence, emotional support and martial arts techniques.
"We consider self-defense like first aid, it's a life skill. We think everyone should have it." - Jennifer Kirkey, Wenlido instructor.
Warmland Women's Sexual Assault Advocates will be present to contribute to the dialogue and provide emotional support if necessary.
Our focus is fun, empowerment, skills and sisterhood. We learn so much from the lived experience of each other, especially in this #metoo era! This course is a great mother-daughter program as well.
