Anne's show statement; Perhaps it is living on a big island, but most of my inspiration seems to come from water. Any kind of water, the ocean, rivers, ponds and lakes.
Living and painting in BC is an endless gift. I chose watercolour as my art medium, which at first, seemed random, but now, after 15 years, I feel this is my home. The interplay between the paper, water and pigment is a constant surprise and delight. Never really knowing the final outcome is a special magic that I only pretend I am creating and controlling. I will always want to try other mediums, dabble with inks, acrylics and plan to try oils in the future. One of my attractions to watercolour is the fine detail that can be punched out with deep pigments and small lines, while working to keep the painting fresh and vibrant. My inspiration for subjects is random, sometimes all flowers, all the time, sometimes waves or trees or birds
