Victoria Symphony: New Music Festival

Reflecting on of social media – memes, hashtags and more, VS presents the new music festival. Composers often borrow phrases from other compositions, recordings and films as memes for new works. This festival features such pieces where a composer quotes another’s work to develop the idea in an interesting way. Including throwbacks to Bach’s famous concertos and the musical The Sound of Music, this festival puts a new spin on favorites from many genres. Other concerts in the festival will include Vox Humana, a special recital with Colin Tilney and UVic’s Sonic Lab.
