Its time to party! Bring your dancing shoes, some finger food to share, and a whole lot of seasonal cheer (non-alcoholic, please!) to the Victoria Folk Music Societys annual year-end festivities. Rig-a-Jig will provide the music, experienced callers will teach and lead the dancing, and troupes of Morris dancers (gasp!) will offer up their outlandishly costumed theatrical entertainment.
Known for playing upbeat Celtic music, Rig-a-Jig is a fixture of Victorias contra dance scene. The band is made up of Molly Raher-Newman (percussion, mandolin, lap dulcimer, voice), Ian Johnston (guitar, voice), Dave Klassen (bass, voice), Dick Pollard (fiddle, voice), and Karen Gillmore (flute, banjo, voice).

Our feature act will be preceded by what is arguably Victorias best weekly acoustic Open Stage session where musicians from fledglings to professionals can perform a 10 minute set for one of the most welcoming, attentive and participative audiences in town. Aspiring Open Stage performers can sign-up with the VFMS Host between 7:00 and 7:30pm to do a set but should get there early to improve their chances of getting on the evenings line-up.
