LOCATION:Victoria Folk Music Society :: “Norway House”, 1110 Hillside Ave, (between Quadra and Cook St.) Victoria,
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:It’s time to party! Bring your dancing shoes, some finger food to share, and a whole lot of seasonal cheer (non-alcoholic, please!) to the Victoria Folk Music Society’s annual year-end festivities. Rig-a-Jig will provide the music, experienced callers will teach and lead the dancing, and troupes of Morris dancers (gasp!) will offer up their outlandishly costumed theatrical entertainment.=0D=0A=

Known for playing upbeat Celtic music, Rig-a-Jig is a fixture of Victoria’s contra dance scene. The band is made up of Molly Raher-Newman (percussion, mandolin, lap dulcimer, voice), Ian Johnston (guitar, voice), Dave Klassen (bass, voice), Dick Pollard (fiddle, voice), and Karen Gillmore (flute, banjo, voice).=0D=0A=

Our feature act will be preceded by what is arguably Victoria’s best weekly acoustic Open Stage session where musicians from fledglings to professionals can perform a 10 minute set for one of the most welcoming, attentive and participative audiences in town. Aspiring Open Stage performers can sign-up with the VFMS Host between 7:00 and 7:30pm to do a set but should get there early to improve their chances of getting on the evening’s line-up.
