• The Triathlon of Compassion is a positive and fun event for people of all ages and athletic abilities. • It is an ideal event for first-timers because of its shorter distances. Who: • The Triathlon of Compassion is proudly brought to you by Human Powered Racing Extra Info about the Event: The Event Since its inception twenty three years ago, the Triathlon of Compassion has raised over $215,000 to support programs and services of the Victoria Sexual Assault Centre. The Triathlon of Compassion race is ideal for first-timers because of its sprint distances and experienced athletes often use it as a tune-up for longer triathlons. It is also an opportunity for participants to give back and make a difference in their community by raising money and awareness for an important cause.
The 2016 event will feature the popular adult sprint race (500m swim, 20k bike and 5k run) as well as a full range of Kids of Steel distances: • Youth 6-7 – 50m swim, 2K bike, 500m run. • Youth 8-9 – 100m swim, 4K bike, 1K run • Youth 10-11 – 150m swim, 6K bike, 2K run • Youth 12-13 – 200m swim, 8K bike, 2K run • Youth 14-15 – 300m swim, 12K bike, 3K run
How to register Registration is now open! Participants can register for the event at www.triofcompassion.com. From there, participants can create their own personal fundraising page to start raising pledges for the Victoria Sexual Assault Centre. The Charity The Victoria Sexual Assault Centre provides hope and healing to over 2,500 people each year. Services include: individual and group counselling; clinic services; support through the criminal justice system; a 24-hour crisis and information line; and youth prevention education through a program called Project Respect.
Events like the Triathlon of Compassion help to raise awareness about an issue that affects 1 in 3 women, 1in 2 Trans people and 1 in 6 men, as well as and raise much-need funds for VSAC’s highly respected programs. The Tri of Compassion is an important fundraiser for the Victoria Sexual Assault Centre and the goal is to raise $25,000 this year. Participants can create their own on-line fundraising websites (or use a paper donation form) to collect pledges. Everyone who raises a minimum of $200 will receive a prize. Additional prizes are awarded to top fundraisers, including a brand new Trek Bicycle!
