7:30 PM to 9:00 PM

It was a delightful summer day and perfect for the maiden train trip along the 71 miles of new track and trestles from Esquimalt to Nanaimo.

Aboard Robert Dunsmuir's private luxury coach named "Maude" rode the Canadian Prime Minister John A. MacDonald, and Lady MacDonald. Keeping company with the MacDonalds was the president of the E & N, Robert Dunsmuir, naturally. B.C. Premier Mr. William Smithe; the notorious judge Sir Mathew Begbie, and others who became rising stars over the British Columbian social, political, and industrial horizon.

Join us on the trip and relive this piece of Vancouver Island and Nanaimo history.
