This long standing Crimson Coast Dance Society fundraising event (aka The Wee Tipple Party) is enjoying its 5th year of partnership with the Grand Hotel and their chef, Ian Ter Veer. A perfect pairing in every way, the evening offers elegance, fine samplings, delicious hors d’oeuvres, live music and additional fund raising activities for this important Nanaimo professional dance arts organization.

According to Director of Operations, Susie Sirri, “This event is another example of how we are standing out in the eyes of whisky aficionados." The hotel currently stocks about 140 labels in its own Whisky bar. The Grand Hotel's commitment to 'whisky culture' was noted as a major attraction for Crimson Coast’s event organizers.

Wee Tipple features representatives and distributors of distilleries offering samplings of their products in an educational and entertaining environment. Whisky fans will delight with some of the rare names and labels making appearances. The evening is preceded by an afternoon tradeshow by special invitation.

For those who don’t appreciate a wee dram, there will be plenty of options. Tequila along with other spirits have become popular features of the event. Craft brews and wines from around Vancouver Island will be available for tasting. Expect surprises as usual in our broad presentation.

Equally tantalizing are the fabulous silent auction items and prize raffles available to ticket holders.  On the table are works of Art, airline tickets, for example.

Grand Hotel Chef Ian Ver Teer will prepare fine tapas dishes featuring fresh, local ingredients. Sippers will enjoy a range of delicacies from Island seafood and shellfish harvesters to local charcuterie and cheese makers. Live entertainment rounds out the evening.

“The Grand Hotel offers important support from the whisky knowledge that comes as a result of establishing Nanaimo’s only whisky bar to the gourmet dishes their Grand Cru Restaurant chef creates. Their staff and management are enthusiastic and creative and we are grateful. Board members can focus even more on the silent auction and fundraising fun for the evening. Proceeds from the event are a welcome contribution to Nanaimo’s contemporary dance presenter in these tough times for arts groups.”
