Dame Cicely Saunders (1918- 2005), the founder of modern hospice, started a worldwide movement to provide compassionate care for the dying. A nurse, social worker and doctor, she established new methods of pain control and initiated an innovative, holistic approach to care- giving for terminally ill patients and their families.
“CICELY! The Life and Work of Dame Cicely Saunders” is a 60-minute story-theatre celebration of her life. Join Margaret Murphy and Wendy Potter in a riveting account of a remarkable woman whose vision of death and dying shaped our world. Tea and goodies will be served after the performance.
A Must See! This presentation should not be missed and is a wonderful way in which to bring the history of hospice palliative care to those who now serve in this wonderful work, as well as an education and awareness piece for the community.
Wendy Pratt, former Executive Director, Nanaimo Community Hospice Society
Margaret and Wendy did a fantastic job of bringing Dame Cicely to life. Everyone was truly thankful to have been present for this performance. The content, the format, and the delivery worked as if to put a magic spell on those present. Everyone felt the afternoon was enriching.
