Tales of Love in Seven Languages

Opera fans in Nanaimo will, once again, be treated to a special afternoon
concert entitled �Tales of Love, in Seven Languages� featuring the lovely
mezzo-soprano, Martina Govednik and her talented accompanist, Donna
Falconer. The program is a tasty selection of beautiful operatic and song
selections in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Russian, and Serbian,
including repertoire by Mozart, Rossini, Schumann, Obradors and
Rachmaninoff.

Govednik has just completed a well-received European tour of this �Tales of
Love� concert and will now repeat it for our Nanaimo audience. In 2009 she
debuted in the title role of �Carmen�, in an opera production touring Germany,
France and Poland.

Based in Montreal, Martina was born in Belgrade (Serbia) into a musical
family. Her mother is a violinist, and father Anton, a former composer and
conductor at the Belgrade Conservatory of Music. Martina completed her
Master�s Degree in Voice at McGill University and has performed extensively
in Quebec with Opera McGill, Op�ra de Saguenay, Op�ra de Rimouski, POD
Theater (Montreal), the McGill Symphony and McGill Contemporary Music
Ensemble.

Accompanying Ms. Govednik will be Donna Falconer. Donna relocated from
Vancouver to Nanaimo, after many years of celebrating a successful
performing career and operating a teaching studio, She holds a Master's
Degree in piano from UBC, LTCL (Performers) in piano, and ARCT
(Performers) in piano and voice. She was on faculty as a pianist and vocal
coach at both UBC and the Vancouver Academy of Music. As a respected
and busy vocal coach and repetiteur in Vancouver, Donna had the pleasure of
working with many young singers.
