concert entitled ‘Tales of Love, in Seven Languages’ featuring the lovely=0D=0A=
mezzo-soprano, Martina Govednik and her talented accompanist, Donna=0D=0A=
Falconer. The program is a tasty selection of beautiful operatic and song=0D=0A=
selections in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Russian, and Serbian,=0D=0A=
including repertoire by Mozart, Rossini, Schumann, Obradors and=0D=0A=
Rachmaninoff. =0D=0A=
=0D=0A=
Govednik has just completed a well-received European tour of this ‘Tales of=0D=0A=
Love’ concert and will now repeat it for our Nanaimo audience. In 2009 she=0D=0A=
debuted in the title role of ‘Carmen’, in an opera production touring Germany,=0D=0A=
France and Poland.=0D=0A=

Based in Montreal, Martina was born in Belgrade (Serbia) into a musical=0D=0A=
family. Her mother is a violinist, and father Anton, a former composer and=0D=0A=
conductor at the Belgrade Conservatory of Music. Martina completed her=0D=0A=
Master’s Degree in Voice at McGill University and has performed extensively=0D=0A=
in Quebec with Opera McGill, Opéra de Saguenay, Opéra de Rimouski, POD=0D=0A=
Theater (Montreal), the McGill Symphony and McGill Contemporary Music=0D=0A=
Ensemble.=0D=0A=

Accompanying Ms. Govednik will be Donna Falconer. Donna relocated from=0D=0A=
Vancouver to Nanaimo, after many years of celebrating a successful=0D=0A=
performing career and operating a teaching studio, She holds a Master's=0D=0A=
Degree in piano from UBC, LTCL (Performers) in piano, and ARCT=0D=0A=
(Performers) in piano and voice. She was on faculty as a pianist and vocal=0D=0A=
coach at both UBC and the Vancouver Academy of Music. As a respected=0D=0A=
and busy vocal coach and repetiteur in Vancouver, Donna had the pleasure of=0D=0A=
working with many young singers.=0D=0A=
