Spirituality is at the heart of recovery and it needs gentle and steady attention to grow. Spiritual awakening, prayer, meditation and conscious contact with God are important parts of the 12 step recovery process. I hope you are responding to your Higher Power�s invitation to deepen your �conscious contact� each day. A weekend can really help you make progress.

This retreat is a time to step aside from our usual activities and pressures to connect with the God of our understanding. It is a time with people in recovery, in any 12 Step program, who: know the sense of belonging that comes from the Fellowship; have respect for each other�s individual journey and anonymity. It is a time to strengthen what you already do, learn of other spiritual practices, and share our wisdom and what works for us.

All of this in a place to enjoy nature in forest and lake, be in touch with your creator, walk, talk, rest and find silence.

Rev. Bill Laurie is a United Church minister with a wide experience in the practice and teaching of prayer and meditation. He is presently deepening his skills through the Jubilee Program in Spiritual Direction. He was in congregational ministry for 21 years, then was a chaplain at Edgewood treatment center for 5 years.
