Open to all skill levels. In this two day workshop, Learn about the nature of this medium and explore multiple techniques for working with soft pastels. This will include a variety of techniques for underpainting, as well as how to layer pastels to achieve a richness and depth of colour in your work. There will be in-depth discussions about different brands of pastels, papers and fixatives and safety considerations.

We will also cover composition and design, value, atmosphere perspective, colour theory and how to use photographs as a reference tool. Demos will cover a broad range of subject matter and spot demos will also be done as per students request for specific subject matter. Bring reference material (photos) for the paintings you want to work on. Students are encouraged to bring other works for critique or assistance. Students can contact instructor for any specific questions regarding the class or reference material.
