Fast pickin, biting political satire, moving music and deep belly-laughs sound appealing to you? How about protecting nature in your community? On May 1st, youll have the chance to do both: the Sierra Club Comox Valley is presenting Save Our Estuary: An Evening with Todd Butler. A regular contributor to CBC Radio and Television and a veteran of over twenty years of live performing as a guitarist/vocalist and comedian, Todd Butler is an artist whose skills are honed to an exquisite point. Expect a varied evening of entertainment; Butler swings easily from folk to bluegrass to blues, from hilarity to outrageous twists on recent news to poignancy. Expect to be impressed; you can find a video on YouTube of Todd playing a screaming bluegrass solo behind his head.
The event will be held at the Florence Filberg Centre on May 1st; doors at 7 pm, show 8-10. Dancing 10-12. Tickets are $25, which includes admission and snacks; there will be a cash bar, as well. Tickets can be bought in Courtenay at The Laughing Oyster Bookstore, in Comox at Videos & More, or by calling 250-339-1331. A portion of the proceeds go to the Save Our Estuary Legal Fund.
