SATURNA LAMB BARBEQUE
The festive event features a LAMB BARBEQUE dinner - hot dogs - refreshments - booths and games all day.
There is ferry access and water taxi service from Pender Island � pleasure boat anchorage in Winter Cove - dinghy shuttle service from boat to dock.

1. Gates open 10:00 am to 4:30 pm. Entry to the grounds is free.
2. Ticket sales commence at 9:00 am at the gate. Dinner tickets: $20.00 adults, $10 children under 12.
3. Groups of 6 or more may reserve tickets by contacting Melanie Gaines at 250- 539 - 2452 or e-mail: [email protected].
4. Opening ceremonies are at 11:00 am.
5. The time for serving lamb meals is between 2:00 and 3:00 pm.
6. VHF contact - channel 69.
7. Limited dinghy shuttle service from boats to shore.
8. No alcohol to be brought ashore or on site.
9. No dogs on site, but there is a pet care area by dock.
10. Life jackets must be worn while in boats.
11. Bring your cash money - lots for sale i.e. arts and crafts, used books and t-shirts.
12. Alternate food - hot dogs, hamburgers, vegetarian burgers and ice cream.
13. Beer garden for adults.
14. Games, face-painting and prizes for kids

The money raised this day goes to local groups, particularly the Saturna Community Club. This event is its only fundraiser each year. The SCC, formed in 1933, is a registered society, which, through volunteers, has taken on many responsibilities such as:

1. Medical: Ambulance services, housing the ambulance, providing a clinic for health care professionals to serve the community as well as purchasing supplies for the clinic.
2. Recycling operation that sorts, stores & ships; also runs a Free Store.
3. Library at ground level of local church, a �reading room� of the Pender library.
4. Groundwater protection, including education, monitoring and research.
5. Maintaining the Community Hall for the use by community members.
6. Cemetery maintenance & management.
7. Makes grants, as funds are available, to other community organizations.

Some groups, which run booths and games, donate all their profits to the SCC; others that have items for sale donate at least 10% of their profits to the Community Club. All of this is run by volunteers and requires the efforts of a large part of the island population.
