Beating the Blues is a 10-week educational support group that offers integrated, proven approaches to improving the symptoms of depression and increasing joy in life. In the group, we’ll explore a number of helpful tools and strategies that you can choose from to tailor your own recovery plan. At the same time, you can connect and share with others who really understand what you are going through.

At Beating the Blues, you can:

o Learn about common symptoms and how they arise from the nervous system.

o Find out which activities and situations feed your depression, and which starve it.

o Explore behaviours that keep you stuck, and experiment with making small changes.

o Share new techniques to shift negative feelings.

o Practice letting go of procrastination, avoidance, “shoulds”, worry and perfectionism.

o Learn ways to challenge and weaken your own internal critic.

o Explore ways to reduce the effect of life stresses through self-regulation.

o Find ways to improve your relationships and assert your needs and wants.

o Connect with what brings purpose and passion to your life.

o Identify the strategies that work best for you.

o Share your strengths and abilities.
