Open Space is hosting a community feast in honour of author and poet Lee Maracle.


Lee is one of the most prolific authors in Canada and is a recognized authority on issues pertaining to Indigenous people and Indigenous literature. She is an award-winning poet, novelist, performance storyteller, scriptwriter, actor, and educator.


The feast will be followed by a Red Words conversation. Sto:Loh author and poet Lee Maracle with WSÁ,NEC poet Philip Kevin Paul in a conversation on Indigenous poetry and cultural reclamation, moderated by Mohawk/Tuscarora poet Janet Rogers.


Red Words is a series of public/community conversations between artists and cultural producers hosted by Open Space as a public forum that welcomes audience participation. Red Words is an arena for insight, dialogue and change. Its overarching goal is to expand understanding of contemporary Indigenous art, practices, and worldview in a meeting place of trust and respect.
