PUPPETS FOR PEACE The 3rd annual Theatre Inconnu’s PUPPETS FOR PEACE CELEBRATION is proud to headline The Roy Henry Vickers PEACE DANCER Project as part of a weekend of fun workshops, activities and performances celebrating puppets, people of all ages, and the United Nations International Day of Peace.

Indigenous Peoples are North America’s first puppeteers, dating beyond Canada’s 150 years, by some 12,000 years. The PEACE DANCER Project is a collaboration between acclaimed First Nations artist/storyteller Roy Henry Vickers and the Puppets for Peace Team. Artworks of the Tsimshian Nation flood tale book, PEACE DANCER, written by Mr. Vickers and Robert Budd, are enlarged into giant puppets and banners, to illustrate the tale as Mr. Vickers weaves the telling on the lawns of Government House on Sunday, September 24th.

The program featuring puppeteer Tim Gosley’s Little Yellow Guy as MC, includes special guests Lt. Governor Her Honour Judith Guichon and Songhees Elder, Joan Morris. The ever-energetic grandpa Rick Scott will tear up Government House’s turf with keyboardist Nico Rhodes and an assortment of giant puppets offering fun, music and celebration for all ages.

SATURDAY AT THE FALL FAIRFIELD The weekend is packed beginning on Saturday with the 7th annual FALL FAIRFIELD put on by The Fairfield Gonzales Community Association.  A line-up of puppet shows and music includes Vancouver’s Little Onion Puppets, Winnipeg's The Crabapple Trolls, Runaway MoonTheatre’s Giant Weaving, Give Peace a Dance with The Klez, Tim Gosley with a mélange of puppets accompanied by Patrick Smith and the ever wonderful Buçan Buçan.  Children and adults will enjoy the giant puppet garage, seed swaps, a pie competition, a food and beer garden and the chance to make a puppet to join the Sunday parade starting at noon.

SUNDAY - PARADE DAY - launched by a Chinese Lion demonstration and led by TeslaTours’ electric car, includes more workshops, First Nations Blessing, opening fanfare with the Peace Pole Ceremony and the Raging Grannies.  Join in the award-winning Giant Puppet Parade for Peace from Porter Park to Government House and enjoy the lively performances.  https://puppetsforpeace.org/
