This is an introduction to phytomedicines (medicines of plants origin) and aromatic plants with Dr. Chris Kumi, author of Plants that Heal and will take medicinal plants a couple of steps above folklore and ethnobotany, bringing a clear understanding of the most commonly used medicinal herbs and supplements into the 21st century.

Covered will be the: discovery of medicinal plants by humans; utility, efficacy, and safety of medical plants; historical, traditional, and modern uses; quality assurances; laws and regulations governing the use of medicinal plants; attributes, myths and misconceptions; active constituents, modes of action, toxicity, and contraindications; possible interactions of phytomedicines and medicinal herbs with conventional medications; alternative and complementary medicine; economically important, native and non-native medicinal plants.
