PERSON | PLACE | THING: Workshop Series

Day 1: Object as Subject with Sara Robichaud Tuesday, October 4, 9:30 am - 4:30 pm Sara will share her process which involves utilizing meaningful objects as catalysts. Each participant will explore their own chosen object and we will cover a multitude of ways (formal, literal, conceptual) to approach making a painting from this reference point.

Day 2: Landscape as Intersection of Inner and Outer "Space" with Alison Watt Wednesday, October 5, 9:30 am - 4:30 pm Landscape is not only an expression of place but also a projection of our ideas and feelings. In this mixed media workshop we will introduce elements of abstraction to landscapes which are significant to participants, as a way of expressing emotional response to place. Day 3: Figure, Imagination and Narrative with Yvonne Vander Kooi Thursday, October 6, 9:30 am - 4:30 pm Explore social histories and personal narratives using photos, drawings and memory.

Through experimentation we will create a balance of figurative and abstract elements in our work, while engaging the visceral properties of paint. lndividual workshops: $85 Members | $95 Non-Members For all 3 days: $240 Members | $270 Non-Members

Participants are invited to submit an artwork created during the series to the exhibition PERSON | PLACE | THING. PERSON | PLACE | THING: Exhibition at Art Lab Opening reception: Friday, October 7, 7 pm Exhibition hours: Sat Oct 8 & Sun Oct 9, 12 – 5 pm
