A rural ramble offering residents and visitors an opportunity to explore and experience Peninsula food and agriculture � and have fun! The annual rural ramble offers participants a diverse choice of 16 venues to visit over the two-day event. Learn how to grow your own veggies � and get started on your winter garden. Discover how to grow oranges and lemons in your backyard � and make home-grown marmalade! Sit back and enjoy readings from local authors. Enjoy fine wine and savour local cuisine. Relax and have a cuppa with fresh scones and home-crafted strawberry jam. Take in local history. Picnic by the Salish Sea. Tour brochures are available at many locations on the Peninsula and in the Victoria area, including the North Saanich Municipal Hall, North Saanich Farmers� Market, as well as most libraries and rec centres. The Flavour Trail kicks off with a BBQ at the Muse Winery celebrating the bounty of the north Peninsula on Friday night (August 23) beginning at 6:00 p.m. Enjoy a harvest spread filled with locally farmed products including Wine Maker�s Ribs, the Bistro Muse Salad, Beef or Chicken burgers with all the fixin�s, Veggie skewers, coleslaw and Berry Crumble. Tap your toes to local music and appreciate a display of local art. Tickets for the evening are $25 a person, available through Muse Winery (call 250-656-2552 to reserve or stop by the winery and pick up tickets).
