1:30 PM to 3:00 PM

Join us for our upcoming workshop for people living with brain injury /stroke and their family caregivers at the Nanaimo Harbourfront Public Library. Changes in communication can be one of the most difficult challenges for persons with acquired brain injury and their families.

Non-Violent Communication (NVC) is a tool that allows us to speak from the point of view of feelings and needs, instead of judgments and accusations. Non-Violent Communication techniques can help you: - Stick to the facts and avoid interpretations and judgements - Get your point across without making the other person defensive - Be clear about your feelings and needs - Request what you want.

Presenter: Jodie McDonald, MSW, RSW, IBP Jodie is the Executive Director of the Cowichan Family Caregivers Support Society, and a consultant with Family Caregivers of BC. As a Registered Social Worker, over the past 20 years Jodie has worked in crisis intervention, family support, mental health, and community development in a variety of roles and programs.

Jodie is a dedicated and passionate educator; she enjoys bringing greater awareness to how we communicate. No Charge. Space is limited.
