Nanaimo Family History Society (NFHS) is holding its monthly informative meeting and presentation. Upcoming is presenter Claire Smith-Burns of Kelowna (BC) lecturing on "The Lucky Dip: Serendipity & Genealogy."
Claire Smith-Burns will share three case histories of spectacular genealogical discoveries made quite by accident. However, these “lucky” finds more often happen to observant family historians who are following a solid research plan and examining every clue! Your ancestors may have been “ordinary” people but research can reveal information you never expected! A lesson on good research habits and following all clues.
An interesting speaker, Claire is happy to be back speaking with our group. She has family ties to Nanaimo going back to her great-great-Grandfather, Charles Wentworth Wallace (Wentworth & Wallace Streets were named after him). Smith-Burns first got hooked on genealogy when she was in her teens and it has been a passion ever since. Presently, Claire is Director and Chairperson of the Library and Education committees for the Kelowna & District Genealogical Society .
