Mike Allen presents Jazz on Gabriola is thrilled to announce the second concert in the series, SoulBop Six, coming to the Phoenix Auditorium.

SoulBop Six features the trumpet, tenor, trombone + rhythm section, a classic jazz formation capable of intimate, nuanced colours, and big, brassy excitement.

The horns, Lachlan Craven-trumpet, Mateo Jaeckel-trombone and Mike Allen-sax are front and centre, blending their sounds, and firing off melodic solos one after the other. The rhythm section led by Juno Award-winning pianist Phil Dwyer, Ken Lister-bass and Julian MacDonough-drums, keep their foot on the pedal, providing the fuel that makes the music swing and dance.

SoulBop Six will be featuring the music of Art Blakey, Tina Brooks, Horace Silver, Oliver Nelson, Mike Allen, plus several beloved jazz standards.
