Mike Allen presents Jazz on Gabriola is thrilled to announce the second concert in the series, SoulBop Six, coming to the Phoenix Auditorium.
=0D=0A=SoulBop Six features the trumpet, tenor, trombone + rhythm section, a classic jazz formation capable of intimate, nuanced colours, and big, brassy excitement.
=0D=0A=The horns, Lachlan Craven-trumpet, Mateo Jaeckel-trombone and Mike Allen-sax are front and centre, blending their sounds, and firing off melodic solos one after the other. The rhythm section led by Juno Award-winning pianist Phil Dwyer, Ken Lister-bass and Julian MacDonough-drums, keep their foot on the pedal, providing the fuel that makes the music swing and dance.
=0D=0A=SoulBop Six will be featuring the music of Art Blakey, Tina Brooks, Horace Silver, Oliver Nelson, Mike Allen, plus several beloved jazz standards.
