Embark on a journey with textile artist/colorist/surface designer Natalie Grambow that will explore mark-making, hand printing and contact printing. Various plant materials such as leaves, bark and flowers, and substances such as rust and metals, will be used to create intricate colours, marks and patterns on cloth and paper. The bound resist techniques of shibori, such as clamping, tying, rolling, bundling and pressing items into cloth prior to immersion in plant dye pots, yield limit less opportunities for making pattern and design marks. Rust and substance reactions provide additional possibilities of patterning and colour alterations.
This workshop is suitable to fibre artists as well as those who want to explore surface treatments for potential drawing or painting projects.
