Various plant materials such as leaves, bark and flowers, and substances such as rust and metals, will be used to create intricate colours, marks and patterns on cloth and paper. The bound resist techniques of shibori, such as clamping, tying, rolling, bundling and pressing items into cloth prior to immersion in plant dye pots, yield limit less opportunities for making pattern and design marks.
