The event: come enjoy live music, dancing, fresh food and great silent auction items at our Mardi Gras Masquerade! Dress code is semi-formal with a New Orleans twist. Featuring Decadence, Celtic Chaos and VIU music student performers, this night will be fun for everyone!
Tickets available at Tom Lee Music and Fascinating Rhythm. No tickets will be sold at the door.
The cause: the Tourism, Hospitality and Music Programs at VIU are partnering to create a Field School in New Orleans in May 2013. Seventeen students spanning four disciplines will explore the culture of New Orleans while contributing in a meaningful way to the community. The focus of the Field School encompasses three distinct areas; music and food, festivals and events, and community development. While on the Field School, we will be participating in volunteer events, including helping rebuild communities devastated by Hurricane Katrina. We will also be learning about the tourism, festivals and events that have made New Orleans one of the most distinctive cities in North America.
