Please come and bring friends to this important and beautiful ceremony commemorating the first use of a nuclear bomb which devastated the city of Hiroshima in 1945 and affirming our need to work for peace.
The Lanterns for Peace Ceremony will be held in Nanaimo on August 6th at Maffeo Sutton Park, Swy-A-Lana Lagoon.
Peace songs around 8:30 with Janette Briere and Frank Graham.
The formal program begins at 9 pm Eleanor Sinclair playing the harp.
The reading of the Proclamation from the City of Nanaimo.
Janis Harper singing.
This will be a family event suitable for children and people of all ages.
Approximately 35 lanterns will be launched at dusk.
