Immerse yourself in a transformational traveling Labyrinth retreat July 27-31st that supports mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health and well-being with Holly Carnegie Letcher and friends, in cooperation with Bethlehem Centre in Nanaimo. We will engage all of your senses through movement, music, meditation, and stillness…Do you feel the calling? Bethlehem Centre writer Kerilie McDowall spoke with facilitator Holly Carnegie Letcher about the pilgrimage in the following interview:

BC: Holly tell us about your background and why you offer labyrinth pilgrimages .

HCL: For the past 25 years I have worked as an Occupational Therapist, facilitating and supporting physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health for my clients. I began working with the labyrinth 18 years ago at the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program in Hamilton, Ontario, as it presented as a holistic, inclusive, therapeutic, mindfulness practice that allowed the individual to "find their own pace," "put one foot in front of the other," "breathe" and "listen deeply to their hearts." In times of pain, stress, and chaos, it offered hope. I have witnessed and experienced incredible transformation, connection, community building, deep relaxation, joy and healing as we walk this circular peaceful pathway. We will have the chance to experience 4-5 labyrinths/day; journeying with remarkable people, animals, nature, and sound and spirit on this ancient sacred island.

BC: Tell us what you have planned for your labyrinth pilgrimage. What can participants expect?

HCL: We will be spending 4 days and 4 nights immersed in labyrinths from July 27th-31st, 2018. We will engage all of your senses through movement, music, meditation, and stillness. Some highlights include: The Therapeutic Equine Labyrinth and Medicine Horses in Coombs, The World's First Godden Finger Labyrinth Museum & 11 Circuit Chartres in Nanaimo, The Oceanside Hospice Labyrinth in Qualicum Beach, The Parksville Community Park Legacy Labyrinth, Providence Farms Healing Labyrinth near Lake Cowichan, O.U.R Ecovillage 7 Circuit near Mill Bay and learning to build beach labyrinths on Parksville Beach.

BC: Why is this a special and unique experience for those who participate in the pilgrimage?

HCL: There is nothing like this experience being offered anywhere in the world. This is a mindfulness journey in a landscape that nurtures the soul. Unique private and public labyrinths will be visited with opportunities to dance, sing, laugh, cry, walk with horses, hug the forest giants, draw labyrinths in the sand, journal, share, listen, find meaning and purpose and be present together. Some other highlights include keynote speaker and local author Carol Matthews; musicians Allannah Dow and Mikeoula; dream journeys with Serena Winterburn; Yoga; Mandala Art; a sacred drum and rattle ceremony with Wayne Paquin; and stress management & relaxation time with me. We have the most remarkable gifts in our own backyard!

BC: How can people learn more about you and your work?
